What is Tripod? Tripod is a nationally recognized and calibrated survey platform for students. This program makes collecting and reviewing student survey data easy. Check out their website.
Why Student Surveys? Student surveys have huge potential to advance us toward our ultimate vision of one day, in four distinct ways that are currently missing in our system today:
Elevating student voice. Student surveys provide a systematic way to hear from our most important stakeholders: our students. They have the potential to help cultivate the leadership of and empower our students to take greater ownership over their own learning.
Measuring student outcomes that we don’t currently measure. Student surveys can be a potential measure of student outcomes we believe are deeply important for transformational change but are not currently measuring.
Predicting student achievement (test score) outcomes. Because they can serve as a proxy measure of academic growth, student surveys can provide additional information, earlier in the year and for grades/subjects we don’t have reliable assessments, on how we are doing in this area.
Providing direct feedback. Student surveys can provide actionable feedback directly from students on a variety of factors, including classroom culture, teacher actions, relationships, and investment.
