Michele Mitchell Director Alumni Impact Houston 2008
Michele Mitchell joined the Teach For America Jacksonville staff in the summer of 2013, Michele spent three years teaching an amazing group of 8th graders science content, but eventually chose to return home to impact her local community. Michele's inspiration for the work comes for working for and alongside alumni in the community, and seeing the scope of their impact for our students. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and, when not in school or at work, can be found shaking her tail feather at her hip hop Zumba class.
Amanda Cagan Manager Alumni Learning and Development Jacksonville 2010
Amanda joined the Teach For America Jax family in July 2016 after teaching high school science in Florida for five years. Originally from Dallas, Texas, Amanda graduated from Texas Christian University and then moved to Jacksonville to be a 2010 corps member. While a corps member in Jacksonville, she taught biology at Terry Parker High School and First Coast High School. For the last three years she has served as Dean of science in a turn around high school and taught IB Biology. She lives with her husband and son, Benjamin in Ortega.
